Before Your Child Arrives
Registration for summer sessions runs through the SNEC Youth office. Before the session begins, you'll need to have on file: your child's medical history, immunization records, and the name and contact information for their doctor. If your child takes prescription medication, it needs to be in its original container with the pharmacy label attached. Medications are turned over to the camp nurse at check-in — campers don't keep medications in their cabins.
Label everything. Gear gets left in the dining hall, dropped on the sports field, and mixed up in the laundry. Labeled items come back. A packing list is provided at registration; follow it and don't send valuables.
During the Session
The camp does not have open visiting days during sessions. If there's a medical situation or emergency, the camp will contact you at the phone number on file. You can send emails to your camper during their stay — letters and packages rarely arrive before the session ends, so email is the better option. Campers don't have access to their phones during the session; devices are collected at check-in and returned at checkout.
Supervision and Safety
Counselors are with their cabin group throughout the day. Staff follow a two-deep supervision policy — no adult is ever alone with a minor. Background checks are required for all personnel who work with campers. The camp clinic is staffed during summer sessions. For emergencies, the nearest hospital is in Gardner, MA, about 15 minutes by car.
If your child has food allergies or environmental sensitivities, include this clearly in the medical paperwork. The kitchen serves vegetarian meals and can accommodate most dietary needs with advance notice.
